The Dahabiya Abundance

Sail through Egypt’s history on the Dahabiya Abundance

Glide down the Nile in comfort and tranquility aboard a traditional style Dahaibya. Take in the magnificent scenery of life along the banks of the world’s longest river, as you sail south towards Aswan. En route you will stop off at various pharaonic sites. Enjoy life on board with delicious European and Egyptian cuisine, and each evening watch the sun slide down below the horizon, while you’re sipping drinks on deck. Relax to the sounds of the Nile at night in the luxury bedrooms below decks. Wake up and do it all over again. The morning after reaching Aswan you will be collected early and driven further south to the magnificent temple of Abu Simbel, next to Lake Nasser. From Aswan we head north, back to Luxor, stopping for the occasional swim in the Nile.

Day 1

You will be met in Luxor and taken to Esna to embark on the dahibaya Abundance. You will visit the Khnum Temple in Esna before you set sail south. You will anchor for the night at an island on the Nile.

Day 2

Sail to Edfu and visit the Horus Temple, one of the best maintained temples in Egypt. Then on to Wadi Shatt and a walk through the fields and the desert. The Abundance will wait at Gebel el-Silsila, where dinner will be served on deck.

Day 3

Gebel el Silsila is the narrowest point on the Nile and home to a pharaonic quarry and is the site of ongoing excavations. Next stop the riverside double temple of Horus and Sobek at Kom Ombo. Dinner under the stars.

Day 4

You sail to Daraw where you will visit the market. This is a very special experience. A stroll through the village with its colorful fruit and vegetable stalls. Finally, the Abundance reaches a quiet anchorage near Aswan.

Day 5

You’ll leave the Abundance early in the morning and head further south, through the desert, to the world-famous temple of Abu Simbel. Built by Rameses the Great, it features him in the form of four 21m (69ft) tall statues. You’ll return to the Abundance later in the afternoon.

Day 6 and 7

The return journey. On the way back, there will be no temple visits, however, there will be occasional stops to take a refreshing swim in the Nile. On arrival in Esna, you will say goodbye to Captain Mohammed and the crew and be driven to your hotel in Luxor.
